Fall Activities You Should Do in Utah

Oct 2, 2021 | Things to do in Utah

When the leaves start turning and the days get chilly, the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding area are the place to be. There are fall activities in Utah for everyone, whether you’re looking for a date night, a family outing, or time with friends.

But where do you start? Check out these five ideas for things to do in Utah this fall!

Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes

Pumpkin patches and corn mazes are classic autumn activities. Since 1996, visitors have enjoyed Cornbelly’s Utah-themed corn mazes in September and October at Thanksgiving Point. This year’s theme, “Oh Bea-Utah-ful” has two locations for twice the fun.

If getting lost isn’t your idea of a good time, there are other harvest-related activities available. For example, the U-Pick Pumpkin patch is the perfect place to get your Halloween jack-o-lantern pumpkins in October.

Halloween Light Displays

Speaking of things to do in Utah in October, the Halloween light displays scattered across the state rival December’s Christmas light installations.

For Halloween enthusiasts who don’t like haunted houses or hayrides, a light display is a festive way to enjoy the spooky season from the safety of your car. Local papers gather the best homes in early October so you can plan your route!

After taking in the lights, you can round out your evening with dinner and a brew at one of Utah’s craft breweries.

Hee Haw Farms

One of the most incredible things about fall events in Utah is that you can usually find more than one activity in a single location. Hee Haw Farms has seasonal events year-round, and their fall lineup is full of fun!

Not only do they have a corn maze and a pumpkin patch, but also hayrides, a petting farm, and the annual Pumpkin Drop. In a single day, you can pick the perfect pumpkin, pet a goat, and watch 10,000 pounds of pumpkin fall from a great height.

For extra adventurous groups, there’s a scavenger hunt with clues and prizes all season long.

Gardner Village Witchfest

Returning for its 21st year, Gardner Village Witchfest is a month-long, action-packed festival celebrating all things witchy! There are events all month long for all ages.

All the events have a witch theme, from dinner theater and an escape room to a 5k run, so bring your brooms. In addition, there are specific weekends for girls’ nights out and kid-friendly events to keep fun for everyone.

North Logan Pumpkin Walk

One of the most exciting family-friendly things to do in Utah this fall is the North Logan Pumpkin Walk. The trail through the Beutler Farm features vignettes made with pumpkins and other fall gourds.

Artists paint, carve and dress up the vegetables according to a yearly theme. This year, the theme is “A Little Bit of Everything,” so at least one is bound to tickle your fancy!
