New Restaurants to Check Out

Feb 24, 2023 | Things to do in Utah

One of the great things about Salt Lake City and its surrounding cities is the ever-changing and growing food scene in this great city. There are some great classic restaurants, bistros, dives, joints, whatever you want to call them, your old stand-by, that place you always end up when you can’t think of anything new, but you know you won’t be disappointed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those places. Share your list; maybe we need to be checking them out.

But maybe you are new in town and want to check out something new and local. Or perhaps you have been here in the valley for a while and want to try something new.
Well, we have you covered.

Slackwater

Slackwater has 3 locations now. They started in Ogden, but with locations in Sandy and the Granary District just outside of downtown now, you are not short on options for these folks.
Famous for their pizzas and calzones, you really can’t go wrong with any of them. They have some killer appetizers as well. Get the wings; you won’t be disappointed. There are some healthier options as well that won’t leave you dissatisfied.

La Cevicheria

Suppose you are in the mood for a little lighter fare, head downtown to the newest Mexican cevicheria. Bright and enticing, with some excellent ceviche options along with some fantastic specialties and your favorite Mexican classics, this is the place for you. Stop for lunch if you work downtown, or swing by for an early dinner before hitting your favorite downtown bar.

Monarca

Still in the mood for Mexican? Some of the tastiest tacos we’ve tried in recent memory. Check out Monarca, also in the downtown area.

Hot Buns

The latest venture from the folks at Copper Common went through a couple of iterations before landing on a burgers-and-dogs-and-things-loaded-with-pastrami concept. This walk-up window is attached to the east side of Copper Common downtown. Open late should you feel the need to fuel up post-pub hopping.

Here are a few other places of note to try.
The Pearl SLC
Thai 101

Homecoming Southern Kitchen

There are some great new places to eat here in the city. Get out and try one. Who knows, maybe you might find a new go-to joint, and we’ll see you out there.
